Anything filmed entirely on location, such as Vegas or Hawaii,, etc., is also an expensive production! Ratings have to be good to justify the continuation of a series filmed on location. Crime Story, from 1986 (same producer as Miami Vice, Michael Mann) was filmed in Chicago and Vegas. It lasted for two seasons and was shut down due to low ratings, especially considering the production costs. I always like that show.
That was a great show. "Filmed entirely on location in Las Vegas" I remember when they bulldozed the little building where Dan Tanna lived.
