Not Starring Joyce Bulifant as Carol Brady

Joyce Bulifant is interviewed on The Backstage Babble Podcast. She briefly discusses "The Brady Bunch" and "Big John, Little John" near the 38:00 to 42:00 minute marks. She was let go of her Brady role two days before production!

American Television in 1961

Hazel and Dorothy's troubles get worse due to Dorothy's overspending. They don't want her husband to find out.

But in the end, the men save the day, allow the money to be spent, and forgive the women.

(Hazel S01 E13 Dorothy's Obsession)

She always got her approval for her decisions from her husband, George.

Robert Reed "Li'l Abner" TV Pilot

"Li'l Abner" is a 1966/1967 TV pilot based on the comic strip and film of the same name. Interesting to see how Robert Reed was cast. Here he very much plays to type: an urban, sophisticated city slicker, not a member of the corny, over the top Dogpatch Village.

The Brady Bunch producer Howard Leeds is a producer on this pilot. Reed's name is not in the opening credits, and it appears he was a guest star that wouldn't have been seen again on the show if it had been picked up as a series.

"Yes, We Have No Bananas"

In "Never Too Young", some of The Brady Kids sort through old records. I always thought the writers made up some of these song titles, but they are all real records with published sheet music.

Blending Christmas

Robbie Rist, Susan Olsen, Barry Williams, Mike Lookinland and Christopher Knight all appeared in this 2021 Lifetime Christmas movie.

I am guessing that when Maureen McCormick and Eve Plumb turned this job down, Beth Broderick and Jennifer Elise Cox were offered their roles.

I am also guessing that Jennifer Elise Cox was either unavailable, or had covid, Oddly, she only appears in the film on a webcam through a Zoom window.

In this scene, Aaron O'Connell, upper left, calls a Zoom meeting with his family.

In this scene, Aunt Val, a grown, functioning adult character, mixes up the sunscreen in the green bottle, with the suntan lotion in the blue bottle. Hilarious!
