Ann B. Davis Close-Up

In "The Not So Ugly Duckling", Alice gathers the kids in the kitchen to discuss a surprise party for Jan.

The closer shot of the kids shows them in the proper spot in the kitchen.

But for Ann B. Davis' close-up, there is a stone wall, and wood paneling, behind her -- in the kitchen. She would have the glass sliding door behind her.  I suppose the closed curtain would look awkward, and if the curtain was open they would have to dress and light the driveway and patio.

I am assuming they filmed it here in this corner of the family room.

  1. In the episode Alice's Sept Song, Sam walks through the kitchen patio doors when Mike is at the kitchen table. They could have used the set there as there is the hatch doors, bit of wall with a clock and bit of rock wall before the patio doors are in view. They could also have positioned Alice at the start of he scene with the hatch behind her and then just used that as her backdrop. It is odd that they picked the background that they did.

    1. Good point! It is so odd -- Maybe they shot it another day, when the camera was already over there, or who knows, could be anything. Was always fastest, and cheapest, and to their point, no one really notices.
