Robert Reed had a recurring role on "Mannix" as Adam Tobias from 1969 to 1974 at the same time he was playing Mike Brady. It's unusual that a network would double cast an actor like this, but it speaks to the vastly different audiences of the two shows, which in general, would not cross paths. It also speaks to Reed's talent, and TV appeal, and that he probably was pleasant to work with. Mannix had him on for years, and could easily do the show without him.
Good point that he must have been pleasant to work with. He certainly comes across as a very affable person.
ReplyDeleteNo Sherwood Schwartz to fight with on Mannix, and this type of role was more in line with what Robert Reed wanted to play.
