Like the stone wall in the living room foyer, the Bradys odd, never-used broiler/grill thing (?) disappeared from their kitchen at the start of Season Five. They simply covered it over with an ill-matching piece of wood for the entire season.
That is something I never spotted. I noticed the change in hob and oven as well as losing the rock wall t9 the right of the front door. I have been watching the show from the start and taking endless screen grabs of the sets. I do love that house. I still wish during the course of the original show we had seen them use the door at the top of the stairs as well as an explanation for the room behind the stairs. we never saw the cupboards open in the garage from recollection.
I always thought the door at the top of stairs would, arguably, be a door into the bathroom of the Mastern bedroom. I believe the bed and the room faces that way.
Yes, I always thought that door could have been a back entrance to the master bedroom bathroom. Mind, the parents had a white brick wall to the left of where mike slept; perhaps that door lead to a small closet there. Ultimately, the viewer was never really supposed to pick up and notice these things. The door just suggested a room. I would love to see some ariel view shots of the sets.
Much like Bewitched, the appliances were supplied by sponsors. As the series went on either the sponsors changed or they "upgraded" the appliances to that year's models. What you see here is a Thermador warming drawer. My guess is, when they switched the appliances in that season, they didn't have something to replace the warming drawer, so just covered it over.
The cooktop was electric for the first four seasons, and then during season five, it was switched to a gas cooktop. It seems unlikely that they would have brought a gas line into the house (not a small expense or undertaking) to support a gas cooktop at that point. I'm sure I'm overthinking things.
I always wanted to see them grill something indoors.
ReplyDeleteI have 2 questions, how do you spot these things & I wonder what they were thinking?? I guess we'll never know!

DeleteBy facing that way, you mean the backroom is beyond the headboard, behind the neat screen with the few leaves on it, right?

ReplyDeleteThe circled thing is a warming bin. Our kitchen has the same set up although the grill was replaced with a microwave
ReplyDeleteI figured if the top square was a grill that could be a clean out like they have for fireplaces. I want to know for sure what the big open square is.

ReplyDeleteProbably already had gas to the house (water heater, furnace).
