Season 1 "Katchoo"
Season 4 "The Great Earring Caper"
Season 5 "The Hair-Brained Scheme"
It's interesting that in the final season, the last episode no less, they built that faux, one dimensional wall to represent the kitchen. I think they actually did a good job, though its looks pretty cheap up close. But the kitchen colors and the representation of the lower and upper cabinets, is a perfect match.
In this shot below, you see just how fake it is: It is a flat, one dimensional wall.
I imagine it was necessary to build this set because it would have been too difficult to film this scene on a set like the one seen in the season 4 laundry room.
The whole notion of this season 5 laundry room is humorous when you think about that large room being on the other side of this door, behind the oven and grill. Where would it possibly fit?
OMG! I never noticed the flat wall before! It looks like they left paint brushes lying on the floor!
ReplyDeleteYou would think that Robert Reed would have thrown a fit over all the set discrepancies as well!
ReplyDeleteWhen Bobby overloaded the washer with detergent and bubbles overflowed everywhere, there was another version of the service porch. It had the avocado washer and dryer on the right hand side of the set. It would be most like the set at the top. Mr. Brady was also seen leaving the house (carrying golf clubs) through the service porch. So there's the door he would have gone outside through, but he would come out on the opposite side of the house and have to backtrack to get to the driveway. Crazy!
ReplyDeleteI always thought that fake wall was from the original kitchen set but they just took the cupboards off. It was the last episode and sets would be being dismanteld so why not. Possibly they stuck the door fronts on the wall after moving the cupboards. But then, if they were going to do that, why not just move the whole wall with the cabinets. Regardless, it looks awful.
ReplyDeleteDid they know at production time of this episode that the show had been cancelled?
DeleteWasn't that Alice's bedroom in one episode? I have a vague recollection of a scene in her bedroom and they're entering through that door.
