The description for 'Short Walk to Daylight' sounds like a version of The Poseidon Adventure that came out that same year--anyway, sure loved made for tv movies in the 1970s :^)
Duel has to be in the top 5--I'd also add "The Night Stalker" which also came out in '72 as an ABC Movie of the Week. Man, 1972 sure had some great films!
There were some great memoorable made for TV movies! People remember them but can't really state their titles, etc. Trilogy of Terror for example with Karen Black playing three different characters in three shorter subjects all in one film. Remember the voo doo doll that came to life and terrorized her?!
"Having Babies" debuted as a TV movie and evolved into a weekly series starring Susan Sullivan. It eventually changed its name to "Julie Farr, MD", the name of Sullivan's character. It lasted for a few weeks as I recall.

ReplyDeleteSome of the best films were the made for tv movies in the 70's. Notable ones for me are "Terror on the Beach" 1973,and "Hey I'm Alive" 1975.
ReplyDeleteAnd lets not forget about "Duel" 1971
